A LILY MAY LIFE

TIM MAGUIRE 19 VIEW STREET EXHIBITION OPENING – 16th October 2012

We were very fortunate to be invited to the opening of the “Tim Maguire 19 View Street” Art Exhibition last evening.  The fabulous event hosted by Nigel and Denise Satterley of The Swansea Gallery, was held in their property at 19 View Street in Peppermint Grove which provided the perfect backdrop for the large and vibrant works.

It is fair to say that the 400 people were mesmerized by the pieces, and the opening address given by Michael Chaney gave an insight into how the artist creates these amazing works.

The venue itself wasn’t overshadowed by the artwork and provides its own story and place in history.  The 100 year old building is destined to be demolished in the future and will make way for a modern home come art gallery.  The Satterley’s decided that it was a fitting way to farewell the grand old mansion.

The Exhibition is open until Sunday 21st October.  Opening Hours Tuesday to Friday 10.30am to 5pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am to 4pm.

ROMEO & JULIET - 13th OCTOBER 2012

Its been some time since we have had a nice date night.  So no better excuse to attend a performance of the Australian Ballets version of Romeo & Juliet.

While a great fan of the Ballet, I was especially keen to see the costumes which were designed by Akira Isogawa.  And they certainly didn't disappoint, with metres of flowing material utilized beautifully during the choreography and the vibrant colors of the Bollywood acts.

The beautiful musical score was performed by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, they were a real standout.  And of course the fabulous dancers were of the high standard that we have come to expect from the Australian Ballet.

A thumbs up also to the Noodle House in Crown Casino for a late post show dinner.  A big thumbs down to parking at Burswood, which alwAys seems to be a problem.

Enjoy the weekend

A NEW CHAPTER IN THE LIFE OF LILY MAY - 13TH OCTOBER 2012

It seems that each week life at Lily May is becoming increasingly busier.  We are meeting more of our fabulous customers at our showroom and have been overwhelmed by the lovely comments about our ever increasing range.

The "A Lily May Life" blog is a way for us to keep you updated on not only what's happening in our world, but also other news and snippets from local and international sources.

Welcome aboard, sometimes (well post of the time in fact) life is hectic.  But most of the time it is FUN, because that is the way we like to live.  After all, the real Lily May would be rolling in her grave if she knew we were running her namesake sake any other way.

So here we go!
